Studies have also shown that participating in a regular exercise program helps increase energy levels and reduce fatigue, increasing the levels of energy-producing and mood-boosting neurotransmitters within the body such as dopamine and serotonin. Given that exercise also helps improve endurance and increase muscle strength, you’ll notice that your body will maintain higher energy levels throughout the day.
Eating for Energy
Well, you know what they say—you are what you eat. That’s why maintaining a healthy diet
is key when it comes to helping boost energy levels and fight fatigue.

Instead, regularly sip water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated

Nuts, especially almonds. These crunchy little snacks contain high levels of magnesium, fiber, and protein, which help convert sugar to energy, maintain blood sugar levels, and keep you feeling full for hours.
Fresh fruit. The perfect combination of natural sugars, fiber, and other nutrients, fruit is a great choice when it comes to giving your energy levels a quick pick-me-up without the crash later.
Leafy greens. Reach for some iron-loaded spinach to avoid that mid-day slump. Considering that iron deficiency is a common cause of fatigue, making sure you have enough iron in your diet is key to keeping those energy levels up.
Salmon. Yep, salmon makes another one of our must-eat lists. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. You already know it’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids, but that’s not all—it’s also rich in vitamin B6, protein, niacin, and riboflavin, all of which play a role in converting food to energy.
While specific vitamins and minerals are important for converting nutrients into energy, they don’t directly fuel the body and provide it with energy. That’s where carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats enter the picture (stay away from unhealthy fats, though, as those can have the reverse effect and cause you to feel sluggish).
