If you're reading this review, then I'll assume that like me, customer reviews are an important part of the buying process, especially when you're paying top dollar. I'm also guessing that you've seen the mixed reviews for Advanced Eye Area Therapy (AEAT) and thought to yourself, "this is not a good product", or you're just not willing to take a risk and try it when there are other Perricone eye products, which have a higher rating. If you answered "yes" to any of the above, then read on...

First of all, for those of you that only order online (which 99% of the time is me), I highly recommend talking directly to a Perricone advisor about your skin care needs and objectives. I personally work with Maria (option 1 I believe!), and she's been incredibly helpful in terms of helping me select the right products for my specific skin care needs.

Secondly, keep in mind that everyones experiences with Perricone products are very different (Maria pointed this out to me when I first hesitated about order AEAT). What works well for one person, may not work as well for the next. Bottom line, there is always a little bit of trial and error when you're working with a new skin care product. The good news is, Perricone allows you to try a product for 30 days risk free, so if you decide you don't like it - no worries, just return it!

So back to my experience with AEAT. My eyes are generally my biggest concern. I think they give away your age (I am 33) more than any other area of your face, so finding the perfect eye cream is important to me. I had been religiously using the Vitamin C Eye Serum, with Cold Plasma Eye for about 6 months total. While I was not unhappy with the results of these products, I felt I could still achieve better results with another eye cream. Note: If your primary concern is dark circles, the combination of the VCES and the CPE did significantly help to lighten my under eye area, so definitely worth considering. What I felt it didn't do very well, (at least for me) was address my fine lines / crows feet and keep my eyes hydrated. That was when Maria suggested I try the AEAT.

My initial reaction to Maria's suggestion was two-fold. 1) The online reviews are bad, I don't want to try it. 2) My eye area is EASILY irritated, which is why I've had trouble using some of Dr. Perricone's other eye treatments (like HP Eye Lift and the New Eye Lid Serum) without any success. This is also why I started using Cold Plasma Eye in the first place, because it's very mild and non irritating. AEAT contains Alpha Lipoic Acid and DMAE (which can irritate sensitive skin), so knowing that was my concern, Maria suggested that I try AEAT in conjunction with the Hypoallergenic Eye Cream (HEC). The HEC is very moisturizing, so the idea was, it would provide that extra level of moisture that my eyes needed not to become irritated by the stronger ingredients in the AEAT, and/or dehydrated throughout the day.

Yes, I know what you're thinking... Why do I have to buy two eye creams? Honestly, you might not have to, but for me, this proved to be a very effective combination of eye products. Yes, it's more expensive, but no-one said looking young and beautiful was going to be cheap! :)

In addition to Maria's suggestion of combining the two products, she also recommended that I apply them in the morning only for the first week. This is actually a really great tip for anyone trying Perricone products for the first time. Perricone is considered cosmeceutical grade, so if your skin is not used to the powerful ingredients contained in many of his products, even if your skin is not overly sensitive you can have a bad reaction. Less is definitely more in this case!

So bottom line, I've been using both products for about a month now - I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with this new combination. I still have no under eye darkness, but the fine lines in the corners of my eye have dramatically reduced, and I can see that skin around my eyes is more hydrated throughout the day. My only complaint with the AEAT at this time is the pump on the bottle is horrible, it's too big and dispenses way too much cream if you push it all the way down. As I am using the product in conjunction with the HEC, you really only need a tiny amount. Aside from that, I'm very happy.

Apologies for the long review, hopefully some of you reading it found my experience helpful? I think the moral of this story is don't always listen to what other people are saying. This product has great ingredients and when used in conjunction with the HEC, it has proven to be very effective at addressing my personal skin care needs and aspirations.
